There are many opportunities for those interested in being involved and making an impact in our local community. CHETNA hosts various events and welcomes active participants and committed volunteers.
CHETNA is always looking for volunteers committed to eradicating domestic violence. We need dedicated and compassionate individuals who want to make a difference. We welcome all individuals, including individuals with expertise in counseling, law, medicine, and social work, to apply. Applicant must be at least 16 years old to volunteer; Applicant must be at least 18 for direct client contact. Please note that the completion of this form does not guarantee your status as a volunteer. Applicants must meet all stated conditions, and attend all training required of the volunteer position for which they are applying.

DownloadThis is an ongoing opportunity, ideal for someone interested in research and making presentations. We make regular presentations to police departments, clinics and other domestic violence councils. Our presentation encompasses trends in domestic violence in the South Asian community. Community outreach is crucial to our organization, as it brings awareness to CHETNA and South Asian dynamics. This volunteer opportunity will require 4-5 hours a month, some of the work can be virtual and some on site.
This position is ideal for those who have experience with creating brochures, posters, and layouts for newsletters. This person should understand the dynamics of domestic violence and CHETNA’s mission. This will require 4-5 hours a month.
Fundraising projects include our annual fundraising gala held in the spring, annual campaigns, events, and community collaborations. Some experience in fundraising is preferred. This committee will meet more often when planning the annual gala. This individual should savvy in soliciting sponsors and communicating with donors. This will require 4-5 hours per month, most of the year. In the two months preceding the gala, it will require at least 2-3 hours per week.
We host approximately 3 major events each year. The event coordinator will plan and coordinate the event using their expertise. This will require leadership and organizational skills. We will also need individuals to serve on the event coordination committee. This will require 4-5 hours per month the majority of the year. In the months preceding the gala and other events, it will require 2-5 hours per week.
This opportunity will primarily take place at the CHETNA office. Some of the tasks will include database entry, copying, organizing files and other administrative tasks. Administrative tasks can be flexible according to your availability.
Our clients need interpreters to guide them through various processes. Interpretation helps clients communicate with attorneys, counselors, and other service providers. We also need translators for our marketing material and website. This would be an ongoing volunteer opportunity and can be flexible according to your availability.
This is an ongoing opportunity, with flexible availability and virtual commitment. Experience in grant writing is preferred. This person will assist in researching new grants that are available to apply for. This will require 4-5 hours a month.
On a few occasions during the year we will need individuals to staff a table or booth at a community event. At these events our main purpose is to provide information about CHETNA and create awareness. This will require 2-5 hours per event.
